Terms of Service
Effective date: 14 May 2026
1. Acceptance of terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) form a binding agreement between you and KidGuard, a sole-trader business based in the United Kingdom (“KidGuard”, “we”, “us”). By creating an account, paying for a subscription, or using the KidGuard Android application, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Service description
KidGuard provides a web parent portal at kidguard.family and a companion Android application that together let a parent set rules — question-based unlocks, daily limits, schedules, remote lock — on a child's Android device. The Service is available in a Free tier and a paid Premium tier. iOS devices are not supported.
3. Account registration and parent responsibility
You must be at least 18 years old and the parent or legal guardian of any child you set up in the Service. By creating a child profile, you confirm that you have the legal authority to install software on the child's device and to consent on behalf of the child to the processing described in our Privacy Policy.
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity on your account. Tell us promptly at support@kidguard.family if you suspect unauthorised access.
4. Subscription terms
4.1 Plans and billing
Premium is offered on monthly, 3-month, 6-month, and yearly subscription plans at the prices shown on our pricing page. Optional Credits packs may be purchased separately. All charges are taken by Siu Cheung Lam, a UK sole trader trading as KidGuard, and will appear on your statement as KIDGUARD.FAMILY. KidGuard is not currently VAT-registered, so no VAT is added to the prices shown, and all charges are in GBP. Payments are processed by Stripe (https://stripe.com); Stripe's terms (https://stripe.com/legal) govern payment processing, and these Terms govern the service you receive from KidGuard.
4.2 Automatic renewal
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period using the payment method on file, at the then-current renewal price, until cancelled. You will receive an email reminder before each renewal.
4.3 Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time from the Account Settings page in the parent portal. Cancellation stops the next renewal; your Premium features remain active until the end of the period you have already paid for.
4.4 Price changes
We may change the price of Premium plans. Price increases take effect at your next renewal, with at least 30 days' notice by email. If you do not wish to renew at the new price, you may cancel before renewal.
5. Refund policy
Refunds are governed by the policy at /refund. In short: you may request a full refund within 14 days of purchase for any reason. This applies in addition to any statutory consumer rights you may have under the law of your country.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service to monitor or restrict any device you do not have the legal authority to control.
- Resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit the Service or its content without our written permission.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the Service except as permitted by law.
- Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of any system or network operated by us without prior written authorisation.
- Upload custom question content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, or otherwise harmful.
- Interfere with other customers' use of the Service.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that materially breach this section.
7. Children's use disclaimer
KidGuard is a parental supervisory tool. It is not a substitute for parental judgment, real-world supervision, or independent learning support. The question library is intended as light educational practice, not as a curriculum or assessment. You agree that you remain responsible for your child's overall device use, wellbeing, and education.
8. Intellectual property
The Service, including software, design, question templates, and brand assets, is owned by KidGuard and protected by intellectual property law. We grant you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for the duration of your subscription, for the personal supervision of your own children only.
Custom questions you upload remain your content. By uploading them you grant KidGuard a limited licence to store, display, and serve that content to your own child devices as part of providing the Service.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that question content will be free of mistakes. We do not warrant that remote-lock commands will be delivered instantly, particularly when the child's device is offline, in low-power mode, or has revoked permissions. To the maximum extent permitted by law, all implied warranties are disclaimed.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, KidGuard's total liability arising out of or in connection with the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, special, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or lost data. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for death, personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud.
11. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have non-exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of these Terms, except that consumers resident outside England and Wales retain the right to bring proceedings in the courts of their country of residence to the extent required by local law.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be signalled by updating the effective date and, where appropriate, by notifying you by email at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
